Y English is Stupid!

Published by SassyTeacher at Saturday, December 29, 2007 1:53 PM
2 rant(s) Something to rant about?

Lets face it

English is a stupid language.

There is no egg in the eggplant;

No ham in the hamburger

And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.

And while no one knows what is in a hot dog,

you can be pretty sure it isn't canine.

English muffins were not invented in England;

French fries were not invented in France.

We sometimes take English for granted.

But if we examine its paradoxes we find that

Quicksand takes you down slowly.

Boxing rings are square.

And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

Sweetmeats are candies, while sweetbreads,

which aren't sweet, are meat.

If writers write, how come fingers don't fing.

If the plural of tooth is teeth,

One goose, two geese.

So one moose, two meese?

Is cheese the plural of choose?

One mouse, two mice; one louse, two lice,

One house, two hice?

Shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth

If the teacher taught, why didn't the preacher praught,

Or the grocer groce, or hammers ham?

If a vegetarian eats vegetables,

What the heck does a humanitarian eat!?

Why do people recite at a play,

Yet play at a recital?

Park on driveways and drive on parkways?

Ship by truck, and send cargo by ship...?

Have feet that smell and noses than run?

How can the weather be as hot as hell on one day

And as cold as hell on another

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy

Of a language where a house can burn up as

It burns down,

And in which you fill in a form

By filling it out

And a bell is only heard once it goes!

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,

while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

English was invented by people, not computers

And it reflects the creativity of the human race

(Which of course isn't a race at all)

That is why

You get in and out of a car, and on and off a bus.

When the stars are out they are visible

But when the lights are out they are invisible.

And why it is that when I wind up my watch

It starts,

But when I wind up this poem

Y Twelve Valuable Steps to Raise Your Self Esteem

Published by SassyTeacher at Friday, December 28, 2007 11:00 PM
0 rant(s) Something to rant about?

As adults, we can choose the messages we accept or reject.
As Eleanor Roosevelt said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission."
Building high self-esteem is a process, not something you can develop overnight," says Jeffrey Keller. "Yet, I believe every person has the capacity of high self-esteem. The question is, are you ready to make a commitment to increase your self-esteem?"

If your answer is yes, here are 12 steps to get you started:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step One
Stop comparing yourself with other people. There will always be some people who have more than you and some who have less. If you play the comparison game, you'll run into too many "opponents" you can't defeat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Two
Stop putting yourself down. You can't develop high self-esteem if you repeat negative phrases about yourself and your abilities. Whether speaking about your appearances, your career, your relationships, your financial situation, or any other aspects of your life, avoid self-deprecating comments.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Three
Accept all compliments with "thank you." Ever received a compliment and replied," Oh, it was nothing." When you reject a compliment, the message you give yourself is that you are not worthy of praise. Respond to all compliments with a simple Thank You."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Four
Use affirmations to enhance your self-esteem. On the back of a business card or small index card, write out a statement such as "I like and accept my self." or "I am valuable, lovable person and deserve the best in life." Carry the card with you. Repeat the statement several times during the day, especially at night before going to bed and after getting up in the morning. Whenever you say the affirmation, allow yourself to experience positive feelings about your statement.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Five
Take advantage of workshops, books and cassette tape programs on self-esteem. Whatever material you allow to dominate mind will eventually take root and affect your behavior. If you watch negative television programs or read newspaper reports of murders and business rip off; you will grow cynical and pessimistic. Similarly, if you read books or listen to programs, that are positive in nature, you will take on these characteristics.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Six
Associate with positive, supportive people. When you are surrounded by negative people who constantly put you and your ideas down, your self-esteem is lowered. On the other hand, when you are accepted and encouraged, you feel better about yourself in the best possible environment to raise your self-esteem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Seven
Make a list of your past successes. This doesn't necessarily have to consist of monumental accomplishments. It can include your "minor victories," like learning to skate, graduating from high school, receiving an award or promotion, reaching a business goal, etc. Read this list often. While reviewing it, close your eyes and recreate the feelings of satisfaction and joy you experienced when you first attained each success.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Eight
Make a list of your positive qualities. Are you honest? Unselfish? Helpful? Creative? Be generous with yourself and write down at least 20 positive qualities. Again, it's important to review this list often. Most people dwell on their inadequacies and then wonder why their life isn't working out. Start focusing on your positive traits and you'll stand a much better chance of achieving what you wish to achieve.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Nine
Start giving more. I'm not talking about money. Rather, I mean that you must begin to give more of yourself to those around your. When you do things for others, you are making a positive contribution and you begin to feel more valuable, which, in turn, lifts your spirits and raises your own self-esteem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Ten
Get involved in work and activities you love. It's hard to feel good about yourself if your days are spent in work you despise. Self-esteem flourishes when you are engaged in work and activities that you enjoy and make you feel valuable. Even if you can't explore alternative career options at the present time, you can still devote leisure time to hobbies and activities, which you find stimulating and enjoyable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Eleven
Be true to yourself. Live your own life - not the life others have decided is best for you. You'll never gain your own respect and feel good about yourself if you aren't leading the life you want to lead. If you're making decisions based on getting approval from friends and relatives, you aren't being true to yourself and your self-esteem is lowered.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step Twelve
Take action! You won't develop high self-esteem if you sit on the sidelines and back away from challenges. When you take action - regardless of the ensuing result - you feel better about yourself. When you fail to move forward because of fear and anxiety, you'll be frustrated and unhappy - and you will undoubtedly deal a damaging blow to your self-esteem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "real you" is a magnificent, unique being with enormous potential and capacity for experiencing love of yourself and extending love to others. As your self-esteem grows, this "real you" emerges. You begin to take more risks and not be afraid of failure; you aren't as concerned with getting approval of others; your relationships are much more rewarding; you pursue activities that bring you joy and satisfaction; and you will make a positive contribution to the world. Most importantly, high self esteem brings you peace of mind ... when you're alone, you truly appreciate the person you're with - yourself.

Y Missing them...

I'm gonna miss my current P2 kids. I thought I am able to follow them up, maybe to P4.. Then they cut short my time with them. I will not be able to teach them..

Sailing says that if I miss them, just look at their photographs.. I miss their voice and cute antics. I miss them making me angry and later making me laugh..

I showed Mdm Low a letter that Shun Yuan wrote to me. He said if he study at YYPS, I must drop by and visit him.. Little did he know that I am going to teach at the same school. I kept telling him that I did not want to teach me because he makes Miss Ong angry. But then, of course, I have a soft spot for my children. They are like my children..

Here are some photos of them at UCC, 16 Nov 2007

Children getting excited about their rehearsal.

Tell me how not to miss such a cute child, Branden.

Elly and Sarah

Shane and Murni

JieYing and Yong Xian (My 2 able monitress)
Seems like the trend is to focus on the face. (all headshots)

Strange picture... (JieYing is the first specimen of nice makeup for the percussion kids.)

Butterflies on the ground

I told Shane that she seemed to be sleepy as her eyes are very small in the previous picture. So in this picture, she decided to make her eyes bigger)

Kids wearing the new uniform

Future models

Chasple and Branden

Finally, their performance is over. A photoshoot at the backstage..

Classic shot.

Look at the lil girl who is the first from the left in the bottom row.. Cute right.. Reminds me of ANTM.. She told me in P1 that she wants to be an air stewardess... =)

Y Year End CLass Party

Published by SassyTeacher at Wednesday, December 26, 2007 12:56 PM
0 rant(s) Something to rant about?

2On the last day of school, we had our prize-giving ceremony , school closing ceremony as well as our class party.. It's a very sad day for us.

Yippie for Jieying and Yuetong for making it to the first 2 positions in the class.. That's expected. If only, they award to the top 3 positions, cos Yong Xian is in the 3rd position.. Anyway, I'm proud of my girls..

After recess, we headed straight back to class to prepare for our year end class party. Of course, we did not start preparing straight after recess. Common sense tells you that children would probably be full after recess. We had our lessons, announcing the P3 classes of my students..
Though I announced and repeated twice, some children still forgot.. Think they are too into the mood of feasting onto the heaploads of food and candies that the children and the paents have prepared and brought. I too brought my share of goodies.
Two days before, the school announced that we can have our class party. So on that day, I sent out a letter to parents asking them whether they'd like to contribute anything for the last party(actually, there's only 1 class party so far in the 4 years I've been in that school).I only recieved 5 replies out of the 30. As Thursday was a major day for the school, we had this Celebration on Embracing the new future at UCC. I was totally tied up with looking after the dancers.. and have absolutely no time to collect the reply slips. I handed the responsibility to my 2 able class monitress to collect the reply slips.. Called them up after I came back school. I did not get to see them. So I called them.. I was a bit sad that the party received lukewarm response.. So I had to lug back lots of stuff from NTUC to home, and from home to school. I almost took a cab..

Anyway, these are the photos.. It's our last day together as a class. Only a few realised the importance of it and stayed back after school to help me clear the stuff from the board and take some photos. This reminds me that I had to run to the photo shop to develop some photos for them. I wonder whether I should write down ar the back, "Developed and taken by Miss MissyOng" . I think I should.. So they will remember it down the road. The problem is, I will have over 400 photos... Hmm...

I made all the boys to "sit down" and not mess with the food arranging. The inportant job is left to the girls.. Boys, just need to act well-behaved and take photos.. My darlings always take such cute photos.. I hate it when children grow past P2. It means they are no longer cute, but mature little children.

Here's little Joan helping Miss Ong to arrange the goodies. Though I told everyone to sit quietly at the side and wait for VIPs to come, she still insited on packing. I can feel that she's sad to leave the class and her friends.

Some of the goodies.

I told them 'fun shot'. And I got it.

My girls

The first few VIPs to arrive.

My 4 class monitress.

I also invited some of my ex students whom I taught 2 and 3 years ago.Now they are all in P4.

Sharing the goodies..

Umairah and Myself

Myself, Hazirah and Noorlina

Where was I looking at? Trying my best to be a display model

Students getting autographs from the VIPs
I wanted to take individual shots with the children, especially Branden and Shun Yuan but it was too hectic.. After the party, we had to go to the carpark for the school closing ceremony. Teachers were called upon to stand in front of the flag, facing the children. As the PA sysytem played the School Song for the last time, as the school flag was being lowered down. Many of us broke down. From where I stood , I could see most of the older pupils cry. P1-3 students did not realise the meaning of school closing down ceremony. Perhaps in their childlike mindset, that the school would still be there or maybe they thought that as long as the school is still in their hearts, it doesn't matter whether the school is closing down. We'd still be together.
Later after the ceremony, we carried on with the hectic packing.

Regina. She stayed back to help me to clear the stuff from the noticeboard.

My Yong Xian too..

And lastly, my little Joan

After the packing, I brought the students to the side gate and opened the side gate for them. Yong Xian stayed back cos her elder sis was still taking photos of the school..

Did I mention that Yong Xian is my most trusted photographer? On occasions when I can't take photos, I will ask Yong Xian to help me to take photographs. She's a vey fast and sharp photographer..

Finally, Wei En has cpme down to take a decent shot..

Y Christmas Eve

Published by SassyTeacher at 12:33 PM
0 rant(s) Something to rant about?

Spent the first part of Christmas Eve at home editing my blog layout to this cool grey version.. and playing Heroes 3.. I deleted the Direct X file from my laptop, and thus I cannot play other versions of Heroes.. So sad..

Maybe I'd get a new laptop.. The current one that I'm using at home has been my trusty partner since Dec 2001.. That's a pretty long time.. considering no major bootups.. Just once when I just bought it..

Anyway, I'm always reminded of the fact that BB will be angry with me if I'm late. So I got prepared early to go to his friend's X'mas party at one of the condominum at Lakeside. When BB saw me, he was very happy. Maybe it's bcos I looked mesmering.. I took some effort to polish my looks.. Applied mascara so that my eyes looked defined and big..

I wonder whether I should go for plastic surgery.. Then I thought again that I don't know which part of my face that need plastic surgery. It's not as though my eyes are not big enough, or my nose is that flat or crooked.. Wanted to do my mouth. But I think if I go and do an op on my mouth, the seams would probably burst cos I like to laugh aloud..

Besides, double eyelids will appear on my face when I applied eye makeup. So tell me, which part of my face need plastic surgery? Maybe I will go for a botox when I start to look very old..
I think basic facial and stuff like that can work for me..

Anyway, we waited for Shui Yuan to come by and pick us to to go the friend's bbq party at the poolside. I don't know most of the people there. So I will just eat and eat . In that way, I will be too busy to talk.. BB introduced me to his sec sch friends.. Some of them were his pri sch frens. All of them are guys... I asked BB why. He said there are not many girls in his clique..

Spent the night drinking.. Not too much cos alcohol has an adverse effect on body size.. BB drank a glass of red wine and martell. He puked a few times.. Poor BB... HE said jokingly that I should drink it for him... Hmmpf... When I got drunk, he will reprimand me.. now it's my turn to scold him for not taking care of his health... Anyway, he stayed away from any alcoholic drinks that night.. Too bad, there ain't white wine.. There's only red wine, Martell, later on, something macadella, some irish cream and so on.. Did I mention that there's beer. Heineken Beer.. I like to drink beer, especially the refreshing cool taste.. Not that I'm an alcoholic, I only drink at social events and not at homes. I used to tell BB that's it's no use getting high when you are not clubbing.. So besides clubbing, I only drink a glass or two at weddings. Other than that, no-no.. I can't imagine myself wearing t-shirts and shorts, matched with a pair of matching slippers drinking beer from beer bottles or glass at coffee shops all the time.. That's so unglam.. Unless it's like a group of friends drinking during festive occasions, then it's fine.. Other than that, uh -uh..

Later on , played a drinking card game.. It's a pretty fun game. Just need to stay sober in the midst of drinking.. Maybe I'd should try to find the cards locally.. Went home early at 2am..

On Xmas Day, I slept till 12 p.m., ate breakfast and went back to sleep till 5 a.m. Didn't get to go to IKEA.. When I woke up, I got prepared to go to West Mall with BB to meet up with Wei You , Shui Yuan and Leon. Ate at Sakae Sushi. Too bad, the HSBC, one-for-one red plate promotion is not available on Public holidays.. There goes my salmon sashimi.. We ate a total of 38 plates. Pretty few considering the fact that I can eat up to 22 plates during buffet in my heyday..

After that, caught the movie, "National Treasure" A very nice and exciting show. I never knew that treasure hunting can be so adventurous and high intellect. I thought, it's like Pirates of the Caribean Sea.. You people should catch the show... Or better still, catch the first instalment of the show.. Anyone has the VCD or DVD? Think it's out 2-3 years ago..

In an earlier blog entry, I had blogged about that we'd be having our smashing year end party at Civil Service Club at Bukit Batok. No doubt that the place is not in town, not in those high-end places, still, it's the company that matters, not the place that makes the party.. Wherever we go, we are the party...

By looking at the first picture, can you guess the theme?

Anyway, it's a nite of fun and glamour. Most of the people were dressed to the theme.

Graduation night.

I'm going to miss the times we had together..

Y A Beautiful Story....... makes you understand that things happen for a REAL reason

0 rant(s) Something to rant about?

The brand new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first ministry, to reopen a church in suburban Brooklyn , arrived in early October excited about their opportunities When they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work.

They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on Christmas Eve.They worked hard, repairing pews, plastering walls, painting, etc, and on December 18 were ahead of schedule and just about finished.

On December 19 a terrible tempest - a driving rainstorm hit the area and lasted for two days.On the 21st, the pastor went over to the church. His heart sank when he saw that the roof had leaked, causing a large area of plaster about 20 feet by 8 feet to fall off the front wall of the sanctuary just behind the pulpit, beginning about head high.

The pastor cleaned up the mess on the floor, and not knowing what else to do but postpone the Christmas Eve service, headed home. On the way he noticed that a local business was having a flea market type sale for charity so he stopped in. One of the items was a beautiful, handmade, ivory colored, crocheted tablecloth with exquisite work, fine colors and a Cross embroidered right in the center. It was just the right size to cover up the hole in the front wall. He bought it and headed back to the church.

By this time it had started to snow. An older woman running from the opposite direction was trying to catch the bus. She missed it. The pastor invited her to wait in the warm church for the next bus 45 minutes later. She sat in a pew and paid no attention to the pastor while he got a ladder, hangers, etc., to put up the tablecloth as a wall tapestry. The pastor could hardly believe how beautiful it looked and it covered up the entire problem area.

Then he noticed the woman walking down the center aisle. Her face was like a sheet.. "Pastor," she asked, "where did you get that tablecloth?" The pastor explained. The woman asked him to check the lower right corner to see if the initials, EBG were crocheted into it there. They were. These were the initials of the woman, and she had made this tablecloth 35 years before, in Austria.

The woman could hardly believe it as the pastor told how he had just gotten the Tablecloth. The woman explained that before the war she and her husband were well-to-do people in Austria .. When the Nazis came, she was forced to leave. Her husband was going to follow her the next week. He was captured, sent to prison and never saw her husband or her home again.

The pastor wanted to give her the tablecloth; but she made the pastor keep it for the church. The pastor insisted on driving her home, that was the least he could do. She lived on the other side of Staten Island and was only in Brooklyn for the day for a housecleaning job.

What a wonderful service they had on Christmas Eve. The church was almost full. The music and the spirit were great. At the end of the service, the pastor and his wife greeted everyone at the door and many said that they would return. One older man, whom the pastor recognized from the neighborhood continued to sit in one of the pews and stare, and the pastor wondered why he wasn't leaving.

The man asked him where he got the tablecloth on the front wall because it was identical to one that his wife had made years ago when they lived in Austria before the war and how could there be two tablecloths so much alike. He told the pastor how the Nazis came, how he forced his wife to flee for her safety and he was supposed to follow her, but he was arrested and put in a prison. He never saw his wife or his home again all the 35 years in between.

The pastor asked him if he would allow him to take him for a little ride. They drove to Staten Island and to the same house where the pastor had taken the woman three days earlier. H e helped the man climb the three flights of stairs to the woman's apartment, knocked on the door and he saw the greatest Christmas reunion he could ever imagine.

True Story - submitted by Pastor Rob Reid who says God does not work in mysterious ways. I asked the Lord to bless you as I prayed for you today, to guide you and protect you as you go along your way. His love is always with you, His promises are true, and when we give Him all our cares you know He will see us through.

So when the road you're traveling on seems difficult at best. Just remember I'm here praying and God will do the rest. Pass this on to those you want God to bless and don't forget to send it back to the one who asked God to bless you first.

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need. Take 60 seconds and give this a shot! All you do is simply say the following small prayer for the person who sent you this.

Father, God, bless all my friends and family in what ever it is that You know they may be needing this day! May their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as he/she seeks to have a closer relationship with you. Amen.

Then send it on to five other people, including the one who sent it to you. Within hours five people have prayed for you and you caused a multitude of people to pray for other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life.

P. S. Five is good, but more is better.

Hope whatever happens today will be for a good reason. Have a nice day ahead everyone ....

Y Young and pretty lady wishes to marry a rich guy. Fantastic reply from

A young and pretty lady posted this on a popular forum:
Title: What should I do to marry a rich guy?

I'm going to be honest of what I'm going to say here. I'm 25 this year. I'm very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above. You might say that I'm greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York. My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married?

I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you? Among those I've dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit. If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden (?), $250k annual income is not enough.

I'm here humbly to ask a few questions:

1) Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and addresses of bars, restaurant, gym)

2) Which age group should I target?

3) Why most wives of the riches is only average-looking? I've met a few girls who doesn't have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys

4) How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend ? (my target now is to get married)

Ms. Pretty

Here's a reply from a Wall Street Financial guy:
Dear Ms. Pretty,

I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyze your situation as a professional investor. My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I'm not wasting time here.

From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you.

The answer is very simple, so let me explain. Put the details aside, what you're trying to do is an exchange of 'beauty' and 'money': Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square. However, there's a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can't be prettier year after year. Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It's not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worried 10 years later.

By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a 'trading position'. If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term - same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or 'leased'.

Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool.

Hope this reply helps.

Y A Sneak peek at my buys from Thailand, Bangkok

Lichen, can you spot your Hello Kitty Bag??

Actually, I bought more than this... I spent a whooping 14,000 BHT... Could have been more if my BB allowed me to buy the Gucci bag..

I went to Platinum shopping mall.. It is located near the BTS Chit Lom station. Take a short walk through the air-conditioned Central Mall and then exit at the far end, and walk to the silver building. It houses a lot of shops, most of them wholesale retailers.. Always quote for the wholesale price.. For eg. If you buy it singly, it will cost 250 BHT.. But if you buy it at wholesale price, it's only 150 BHT.. So it means if you pay another 200 BHT more, you get 2 dresses.. I bought most of my dresses at wholesale prices... Except for the silver dress..

Lichen, you can engage me to be your shopping adviser. Just pay for my airfare, lodging and food... Just kidding! =)

Y Is this dancer rotating in the clockwise direction or in the anticlockwise direction?

Published by SassyTeacher at Sunday, December 16, 2007 10:41 AM
0 rant(s) Something to rant about?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic / detail oriented / facts rule / words and language / present and past / math and science / can comprehend / knowing / acknowledges order / pattern perception / knows object name / reality based / forms strategies / practical / safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling / "big picture" oriented / imagination rules / symbols and images / present and future / philosophy & religion / can "get it" (i.e. meaning) / believes / appreciates / spatial perception / knows object function / fantasy based / presents possibilities / impetuous /risk

Actually, I can view it in 2 directions easily.. The first time I did this , the dancer was revolving in the anticlockwise direction. This morning, the dancer seemed to revolve in the clockwise direction..

Is there a fraud in this image?

Maybe to test this, you should get 2 persons who view it differently to look at the image again at the same time.. Is their perception still the same?

Y Can I buy the stackable white gold ring?

It's only $45...
Please BB...
Update:
I went to IMM the day before to view the ring .. It's so bloody thin.. It's not as smooth as it looks in the bochure... I'd rather get a silver ring with $45... Thank goodness, I did not make any impulsive buys...

Y Another meal again at Jurong Hilltop

On our 21th month anniversary, we went to have a nice meal at Jurong Hilltop Restaurant, Teppanyaki..

I simply relish the taste of teppanyaki food.. Baby is so wonderful to bring me there.. Cos it's not easily accessible by bus or train.. I like the pickles.. It really whets your appetitie..

The chef took a long time to get us our first dish cos the hotplate took a long time to be heated to the right temperature.. He made sure that the hot plate is evenly greased..

It's quite misty as it's a rainy day. Thankfully, there's no thunderstorms.. I hate thunders..

Squids-fresh and yummy. It's easily to chew into smaller pieces..

Teriyaki chicken- very sweet.. The smaller portion still proves too much for 2 persons..

I think this is the mushrooms? or venison? in-house special beef.
Not too raw. Just nice for my liking
All the dishes are yummy.. We also have the garlic rice.. To be honest, for two diners, d0n't order 4 dishes and 2 servings of garlic rice.. You'd be too full after that... Preferably order 3 dishes and garlic rice..
Recommendations:
It's also good to try the king prawns.. They are pretty fresh.. But a bit ex.. Ard $24.. Can't remember what else.. But the dishes that I have tried so far are fabulous..

Check out this art tool...
Chanced upon it when I was reading a teacher's blog... He mentioned that this can be used to keep kids busy in their seats..

I agree.. When you have pesky kids, or babysitting children who likes to climb onto window grilles( for eg: me), this is one website that you can get them to sit still.. It'd be good if you show them the gallery to view the other paintings.. Some of them are real masterpieces.. I don't think I can paint that well as they do..

But practice makes perfect..

Go for the Glitz!

Whoever coined the term 'girl about town' must have had you in mind.

Get the party started this season with flapper-meets-disco dancer frocks, glittering accessories, and sexy heels.

Don't forget to finish off your look with a cocktail ring - the perfect accent for a cosmopolitan gal like you.

Your shimmering, upbeat personality puts you in the spotlight, just like the round-cut diamond.

With a girlie nature and friendly, playful disposition you tend to stay at the top of the It list among your posse, acquaintances, and admirers. S

Similarly, the round-cut has 58 dazzling facets, sparkle to spare, and looks at home on nearly all fingers, making it the most popular style of them all.

After exams, the mood is sort of relaxed.. I took some pictures of my kids at work...

I miss my kids... But I don't miss the workload..

My 2 Class Monitress(wearing yellow t-shirts).. I don't have any class monitors.. Boys are not as responsible as my girls..

See.. You are supposed to do work, not pose for a picture

Haha.. After my class monitress, Jie Ying gave a cold stare, he obediently went back to his work.. (Completely fictitious content)

My darling Monitress, Yong Xian

Guess who this person is

His baby photo.. He attached it to the Teacher's Day Card he gave me this year...

No clue at all?

That's him.. Branden

These are the kids who helped me to celebrate my birthday 2 years in a row, even when I stopped teaching them.. I didn't celebrate their birthdays for them.. I gave them a whiteboard and a pencil case respectively...

Having a combined Children Day's Celebration..

My Darling girls, Ke Yi, Sophie and Yue Tong (See how sweetly Sophie smiled) Did I mention that in 2006, Sophie voted for me as her favourite caring teacher. The reason she gave was, MissyOng, I'd hope you win.. You have the same surname as me and you always give me a smile every morning) How not to smile at my favourite obedient kids..

Regina not knowing how to hula-hoop.. But she tried her best..

My cheeky kids (Firoz, Ryan, Jia Yi and Joan) (Joan is going to a school in the East.. I am going to miss her a lot.. She helps to keep the classroom clean, take care of the class and many more.....)

JieYing, Yong Xian, Hazriah and Peter

Sophie brought along a fan to fan herself in this humid weather.

Jordan winning a prize in the Sports Day.. Hurray!

I took some pictures of the Year End Class Party.. Going to be up soon........

Finally some pictures of my darling dancers for the DeepaRaya Concert.. This is the first time that I am choregraphing a dance for a festive celebration.. Hope my audience likes it even though some of the steps are a bit mis-matched and the timing is bad..

Helping my kids to fix their blue cloth..

I think I look pretty in these pictures.. I don't think I look good when photographed close-up

Done.. Finally, a load off my mind.. I think it's the same for my kids.. Look at Yong Xian's hair.. It's all in a mess...

Good Job, Children.. Even though they started late, kept peeping out from the gates, looking at fellow dancers when dancing, it's still a job well-done.. It's hard on them to memorise dance steps for 4mins plus dance...

Y Belated post on Mid Autumn Festival Celebration

Published by SassyTeacher at Friday, December 07, 2007 11:06 AM
1 rant(s) Something to rant about?

First Day of School, 18 Sep 2007, straight after the Sep Hols, We are going to have our Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration.

I am so tired by the end of the celebrations. After the school lessons had ended at half past one, I had class remedials from 2 to 3.30 p.m.

After remedial, I headed doewn to the staff lounge. We kicked off the start of the celebrations with KFC treats from Mr David.. He is so nice and generous....

We see Shiling, Rachel and Eunice attacking preparing the set-up for the meal, opening the boxes, placing the mashed potatoes neatly..

See the yummylicious chicken thighs? I like to eat the thigh meat best cos it's so succulent and juicy... (On another note: I read it elsewhere that substances are injected into chickens to make them grow fatter and fleshier. And the parts that get injected are the wings and drumsticks.. Hence I tried to refrain myself from eating too many wings and drumsticks)...

After the meal, it's work time.. Before the students arrived, the P4 student helpers are seated quietly at one side of the canteen.

These are the two comperes for the celebration later..

Only the P1-3 are invited for this event.. See how happy these 2 gals are .. =)

This is the popper that will make a loud noise and have streamers coming from it.. Almost like a fire-cracker.. I thought I have the strength to turn this at the middle..But I did not.. The other student helper popping this popper had to come over to this side of the stage to help me pop this..

Meanwhile at backstage, I took a pic of some of the dancers.

Jessie with her lovely gal who looks and behaves like Jessie...

The helpers at the mooncake station

The P1 - 3 students will go through 3 stations, tea appreciation, moon-cake making and decorating a lantern...

After which, students will be brought on a guided tour around the school in the dark. Of course, students will be armed with their lighted lanterns.. As a form teacher, I have to help my kids light up the canterns.. I'm not very good at it.. But I'd soon learn and the parents are very understanding.. 3 of my kids did not turn up.. 2 were on MC, the other one forgot about it even though we had reminded them.. Somemore, he's in my remedial class..

My kids enjoyed the walkabout.. The parents walked behind us.. Their children walked with me.. Some of the more-shy children like HL walked with his mum.. If only more of my kids turned up for this event.. It'd be more fun...

"Now it's the hols, I miss my kids so much... Especially my 4 big princesses... I miss them taking care of my class, taking care of my naughty ones...

Of course I also miss characters like Branden, Shun Yuan, Ilyana, Amnah who never fail to entertain me with their cute childish antics... "

I'm back from BKK with a 10.2 kg luggage and presumably 5 kg backpack and many baht poorer..

Pics will be up later..
I just like the shopping..

Thailand is a land of smiles..
But not in Emporium, Louis Vuitton Store and that big optical store on the 3rd floor of Emporium... LV staff may have the right to be snobbish.. But a optical store staff?? Hmmpf..
